*Note: Sunday, January 23 is Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. Sanctity of Human Life celebrates that all life is precious and has meaning and a purpose.
You are a life created in the presence of God…
Are you breathing? Are your body systems pumping and working right this very moment? Well, if you are reading this then you are a living, breathing creation of the most high God. You were created with wonderful plans in the mind’s eye of the very Creator of the Universe, the one who hung each star in the night sky, the one who knew exactly what degree of axis the earth needed to hang in the vastness of space that is the Universe, all to sustain you; a very individually unique wonder of the creative order. He had a hand, and you might say “the” hand in creating you. He shaped and fashioned you in your mother’s womb, (Psalm 139:13) just like a master potter creates a beautiful piece of pottery from a lump of cold, shapeless clay. You, my friend, were created as a Masterpiece!
Each baby that is created in his/her mother’s womb is a masterful creation of a very intent and on purpose God. Do you get that? He created each of us with intention and purpose. He didn’t do it on a whim or by mistake! Each life is a gift no matter the circumstances surrounding that particular creation, whether good or bad. Life doesn’t happen by chance!
Did you know that the very fact that any of us are here is a miracle in itself! Not to get explicit about the details, but the environment in which a child is created is so acidic that it is amazing that any of us survived it to be created. The rate of natural conception is only 25% in that environment. (Searched on the web and found the percentage info on a fertility specialist website out of Texas that helps infertile couples conceive…other knowledge comes from listening in class as a student long ago, making me truly realize how miraculous life really is).
We survived the odds, people!
Think about it! If God created you, then doesn’t every child God created deserve a chance at life? God has numbered each and every day of your life, as well as the life of the unborn (Psalm 139:16). How are we to say that one life is worth less than another or to intentionally take that life before it has even breathed one breath? Did your mother and father consider you any less worthy? You are here! Right? Choosing (the willful act of making a choice) to cease a life of an unborn child is a sad choice to make and should never be an option to make in the first place.
Take a breath! Breathe in deep! Are you thinking about how intricately a creation you are? Something…isn’t it? Could you have made something so intricately complex and brilliantly put together? Think of this: an average adult has about 27 feet of intestines and around 60,000 miles of blood vessels (capillaries, veins, and arteries). Pretty amazing! You are an amazing creation! Believe it and live it!
I love how David puts his amazement in words at the awesomeness that God spent the time to create him. (I hope you realize just how awesome God is that He took the time to make you!) The following Scripture excerpt is from the New Living Translation (NLT):
“You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me!” Psalm 139:13-18
Beautiful words from a man after God’s own heart, and a beautiful reminder of just how important you are to God. God spent the time to create us and to write our days in His book before we even came to be. He invested in us and we were created in His presence; His hand was on you from the get go! You are precious to Him and so is every life that is created in the presence of God.
You are His investment, a masterful workmanship!
* If you have ever been involved in the act of abortion there is forgiveness and redemption waiting for you. “…There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent.” Luke 24:47, “But the Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against Him.” Daniel 9:9 (NLT)
